A recent TNO report concluded that levelized cost of hydrogen for current green hydrogen projects in the Netherlands lie between 10-14€/kg, which is much higher than the target cost for any application.
While innovation and large market volume are two clear factors which will drive future cost reduction, risk is an important cost factor today as well. Because the technology is not yet mature, there are many uncertainties which translate into higher cost. These lie on different levels: on materials, component, stacks, but also on integration into the system level. We will use the V-model to identify the key risks and discuss how to reduce them.
