Electrification of the Chemical Industry

13-12-2018 - 13-12-2018 / Sittard-Geleen | Brightlands-Chemelot Campus

Our annual event 2018 ‘When Electrons power Molecules’

On Thursday, December 13th, 2018 we organize our 4th annual on industrial electrification at Brightlands Chemelot Campus in Sittard-Geleen, the Netherlands. This year we have joined forces with Industrielinqs and FME, creating a one full day international ‘Industry and Energy’ Congress. By doing so, we co-created a win-win situation for our complementary communities and stakeholders in the chemical and energy value chains. Together we have created an interesting program built around the sustainable synergy challenge ‘When electrons power molecules’.

During the event, we will discuss the latest progress regarding Industrial electrification and Power-2-X. We will update you on the international progress in this field and elaborate on VoltaChem's results, projects, plans and opportunities to collaborate. We will focus on international collaboration and cross-sector topics, addressing the issues and questions relevant to business investment managers and R&D, technical and innovation managers.

The-whole-system-in-the-room!

The VoltaChem mission is to develop and implement technology and business cases to drastically cut CO2 emissions by using electricity from solar and wind for the production of sustainable fuels, fertilizers, and plastics. In collaboration with the chemical industry, the electricity sector, and equipment manufacturing sector. This event is the occasion to get ‘the-whole-system-in-the-room and to grasp the opportunity to explore international opportunities, design new roadmap perspectives, define the collective, challenging questions and accelerate business and technology development together.  In order to be able to create new value chains, cutting through multiple sectors.

The program includes:

  • Plenary program with the key-note speaker: Mark Williams (Vice-president Europe, Sabic);
  • Short monitoring talks from high-level decision makers and experts like Robert Claasen (Chemelot Executive Director),  Prof. Bert Weckhuysen (Utrecht University);
  • Pitches Industrial Energy Enlightenmentz contest;
  • Breakout(expert)sessions in 3 rounds, divided over 10 themes;
  • 7 themes relate to the VoltaChem program lines Power-2-Heat, Power-2-Hydrogen, Power-2-Chemicals, and Power-2-Integrate, which are organized together with industrial partners;
  • 3 themes and sessions hosted by Industrielinqs and FME, including a site tour at the Chemelot Industrial park;
  • Enough time for networking with stakeholders from the chemical industry, electricity sector, high-tech industry, equipment suppliers and the public sector.
