Green hydrogen today, tomorrow, and in 2030

We invite you to join our webinar on June 5th, 15:30 - 16:30

Green hydrogen today, tomorrow, and in 2030As climate change intensifies, global energy systems must rapidly transition away from fossil fuels like coal, oil, and gas. And while renewable electricity is gaining an increasing share of energy production in Europe and around the world, it’s not suited to every industrial application. Some energy-intensive industries – such as refining, ammonia production, and steelmaking – depend on other fuels and feedstocks.

Green hydrogen has been touted for decades as a sustainable alternative to fossil fuel energy produced with readily available technologies. It’s well suited to the consistent and energy-intensive demands of heavy industries. But global green hydrogen production and uptake haven’t yet matched its vast decarbonization potential.

In partnership with Advisian (Worley), VoltaChem experts examined green hydrogen’s standing within global energy systems today, before considering the demand, supply, and technology challenges that will influence the scale of green hydrogen production in Europe in 2025 and 2030. The reference point has been the EU’s ambition to realize 40 GW of water electrolysis capacity by 2030.

The authors evaluate this target, by addressing and posing various questions related to the emerging green hydrogen economy, presenting a comprehensive picture of the factors that will determine whether green hydrogen remains a niche energy carrier for the foreseeable future, or whether it can significantly impact current European energy systems by 2030.

We encourage you to download the paper here and to register for our dedicated webinar, to be held on June 5th at 15:30 CET.

During his webinar, we will discuss the economic and environmental benefits of green hydrogen in Europe. The webinar will be hosted by VoltaChem and its partners at Advisian and will feature an examination of the current state of the green hydrogen economy in Europe, as well as an assessment of how its future could play out.
