New animation: Power-2-Chemicals We proudly present our latest animation, about the VoltaChem Power-2-Chemicals program line. In this program line we focus on the development and integration of new electrochemical reactors within existing chemical production facilities.

Over the next 20 years, the chemical industry will have to reduce its CO₂ emissions and needs to transform its processes in order to produce chemicals and fuels in a sustainable way. Renewable electricity will become more abundantly available and CO₂ emissions will be regulated. At VoltaChem, we believe that our innovations in decarbonization of energy and recarbonization of raw materials will accelerate the application of new electrochemical processes in the chemical industry within the coming decades.

In the Power-2-Chemicals program line of our Shared Innovation Program we focus on the development and integration of new electrochemical reactors within existing chemical production facilities. We work on the direct electrosynthesis of chemical building blocks and higher value products using conventional and sustainable feedstock (e.g. CO₂, biomass-derived). The main challenges that are addressed are the development of electrochemical routes, reducing capital costs for electrochemical cells, increasing energy density and selectivity, choosing & using catalysts, and downstream processing.
