Milestones PERFORM project: Continuous flow reactor constructed and Awards finalist
25-10-2021 | Project results | P2Chemicals
PERFORM (PowER platFORM), the project that is coordinated by VoltaChem founding partner TNO, recently reached several milestones: a continuous flow reactor has been constructed and tested, and the project was selected as a finalist for the EU Sustainable Energy Awards (EUSEW Awards) 2021 in the Innovation category.
The European Horizon 2020 project PERFORM focuses on electrochemical process development for the production of bio-based monomers and additives, such as maleic acid, adipic acid, and valeric acid.
Continuous flow electrochemical reactor
VoltaChem researchers involved in the PERFORM project are proud to announce that recently an imporant project milestone was achieved: a continuous flow electrochemical reactor has been constructed and tested for production of bio-based monomers, and a downstream processing strategy has been developed. With these milestones, the project shows the potential of large-scale electrochemical production of bio-based materials. These project milestones were published in an article in NPT Procestechnologie Online Magazine.
Finalist EU Sustainable Energy Awards
PERFORM was selected as a finalist for the EUSEW Awards 2021 in the Innovation category, together with LIFE-DIADEME and RenOnBill. Winners were announced in an online awards ceremony, held on October 25 at 12 (CEST) and finally it was LIFE-DIADEME who took the prize.
The EU Sustainable Energy Awards recognize outstanding individuals and projects for their innovation in energy efficiency and renewable solutions. Finalists are chosen from a shortlist of the year’s most successful projects for clean, secure, and efficient energy.
In concrete, the Innovation category recognises outstanding EU-funded activities that show an original and innovative path toward the clean energy transition. Prizes are divided into four categories (engagement, innovation, woman in energy, young energy trailblazer) and awarded by an expert jury and by European citizens via a public vote.
About PERFORM
PERFORM aims at developing highly efficient and integrated electrochemical systems that can substantially improve sustainable production of valuable building blocks from bio-based feedstocks. VoltaChem contributes to PERFORM through the Power-2-Chemicals program line. Would you like to find out more?
