Besides the energy transition, which is mainly focusing on renewable energy generation, there is a growing awareness about the importance of the materials transition. Carbon demand will change fundamentally for the energy, transport, chemicals & materials sectors.
PERFORM: using green electricity and renewable feedstocks to create high-value molecules
21-09-2023 | P2Chemicals
A major advance towards making the chemical industry more sustainable: the EU PERFORM project will conclude at the end of the year – and the results are already spectacular. Electrochemistry allows the industry to produce far more efficiently, while cutting CO2 emissions by half. After successful laboratory trials, a pilot test setup at TNO has demonstrated that many chemical products can be ma
SuperCell Shared Research Program
21-09-2023 | Program update
Since April 2022, TNO has been working within the VoltaChem program with three partners to develop a new generation of electrolyzers. It is collaborating with German company Schaeffler, British company Johnson Matthey, and Belgian company Bekaert to improve the cell that is part of PEM electrolysis. The cell is the heart of this electrolysis process and consists of various layers, such as electric
