Pleased to meet: Earl Goetheer
09-03-2020 | P2Chemicals
In this new series we will put the spotlight on the experts from the VoltaChem team. On a regular basis, we will interview a team member and get to know him or her more in-depth. We will explore their role, background, expertise, motivations, ambition, and much more. First in line: Earl Goetheer, Technical Lead of the Power-2-Chemicals program line at VoltaChem.

Developing novel electrodes for robust Solid Oxide Cells
06-03-2020 | New Project
VoltaChem researchers at TNO have recently started the development of novel oxygen electrodes for a new generation of robust Solid Oxide Cells at the Faraday Lab in Petten, one of the hydrogen research facilities that VoltaChem has in use. This research is part of the three year, 5 million euro 'NewSOC' project that started in January 2020, funded by the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking.

e-THOR: Electrolysis technology for hydrogen and oxygen production in Rotterdam
04-03-2020 | New Project
As part of VoltaChem's program line Power-2-Integrate, a study has been started towards an integrated hydrogen plant in the Rotterdam harbor. The project involves experts from TNO, waste-to-energy company AVR, TiO2 producer Tronox, and Deltalinqs, the business association of Mainport Rotterdam.

Taking the next step in the integrated capture and conversion of CO2 to oxalic acid
02-03-2020 | New Project
On February 7th 2020 the kick-off was held for a new project of the VoltaChem program line Power-2-Chemicals. The Bio-cel project focuses on the integrated capture and electrochemical conversion of biogenic CO2 to oxalic acid. It is carried out with project partners DMT Environmental Technology, Mestverwerking Fryslan, Tielo-Tech, TNO, and TU Delft.

Seizing opportunities in the international value chain of electrolyzer production
28-02-2020 | New Project
Green hydrogen is an indispensable ingredient in the energy transition and in making the chemical industry sustainable and carbon-neutral. Producing green hydrogen on such a large scale requires the availability of electrolyzers in large numbers. This offers the manufacturing industry great opportunities.

Modeling aging and degradation of stacks for a gigawatt electrolyzer
26-02-2020 | New Project
As part of the third phase of the Dutch national GigaWatt Electrolyzer project, VoltaChem founding partner TNO will develop a model for aging and degradation of PEM and alkaline electrolyzer stacks. This will provide the foundation for a stack replacement strategy in a future hydrogen factory of gigawatt scale.
